Wait a second. Sarah's a babe.

In what was surely meant to be a rapier-like thrust, the New York Times likens Caroline Kennedy to Sarah Palin:

"In a carefully controlled strategy reminiscent of the vice-presidential hopeful Sarah Palin, aides to Caroline Kennedy interrupted her on Wednesday and whisked her away when she was asked what her qualifications are to be a United States senator."

Her qualification is her last name. I'm not scoffing, actually-what were Hillary's qualifications to hold the very same seat Caroline's lusting after? Her last name. And nobody, Democrat or Republican, seriously says Hillary was a rotten Senator (whether making her Sec. of State just to get her out of the way politically was a wise move by Obama is a tougher question.)

So maybe Caroline Kennedy won't be a royal screwup. Besides, since Ted Kennedy won't be around much longer, the Senate has to have a Kennedy in it. Just as in a couple years Jeb Bush will be there. These are political families whose expertise we can scarcely do without. These are latter-day Adamses and Harrisons. Or so many think.

Then again, here in Pennsylvania we have Senator Bob Casey, Very Junior, whose lack of gravitas is so palpable even his wife doesn't return his calls.

UPDATE: The Cuomos vs. the Kennedys. May the better dynasty win!

Not that it's a qualification or anything, but at least Caroline has a fair set o' stems, if not in Sarah's league.

Yeah, you can see how I mark my ballots. :)

Chaz-Selecting women candidates by legs or other critical body parts is fine by me-after all, we're going to have to look at them a lot, if they win. The only problem is a race between the likes of a Golda Meir and a Margaret Thatcher. I might have to sit that one out.

Caroline's becoming the spittin' image of Maria Shriver, her scary-looking cousin. Those Kennedy genes are powerful.

Lest I be viewed as a sexist for the above comment, let me say that "The Sarah Rule", that is to say, evaluting female candidates by their appearance, should only be used to break a tie. If you two women whose experience, philosophy, etc. are more or less requal, then using TSR may be necessary.
